Does Your Finances Have a WOF for the Festive Season?

Paul & Nick’s Great Lake Challenge: The Road to Glory

Picture it: Paul and Nick at the starting line, both gleaming in their custom Carricks-branded lycra, ready to take on the length of the lake. They’ve each had a professional bike fit, convinced that this minor tweak (plus a flash logo on their kit) will help them glide past the competition. It’s all in the spirit of a friendly rivalry, of course—right, lads?

So, as Paul and Nick race across the lake with visions of victory, it’s a reminder that a little prep work (and the right gear) goes a long way, whether you’re aiming for a race win or a financially secure holiday season. Let’s dive into your own WOF checklist!

1. Tyre Check - Emergency Fund:
Just as Paul and Nick wouldn’t start a race on flat tyres, you don’t want to head into the holidays without a solid emergency fund. Is yours pumped up and ready?

2. Engine Check - Income Protection:
Their bikes may have professional tuning, but your “engine”—your income—needs a check too. Make sure your income protection is in top shape to handle any financial potholes ahead.

3. Fuel Gauge - Savings for the Holidays:
No one wants to run out of fuel mid-race, and the same goes for your holiday budget. Is it topped up, or are you facing a mid-December pit stop?

4. Lights & Signals - Health and Life Insurance:
Just as the boys rely on their bike lights for safety in low light, health and life insurance give you peace of mind in uncertain times. Is your coverage bright enough?

5. Personal Health Check - Movember Style:
With Movember in full swing, don’t forget your own health WOF! Gents, take a leaf from Paul and Nick’s book: get a check-up, and stay in shape—minus the Lycra (unless that’s your style).

6. WOF Expiry - Regular Policy Reviews:
Paul and Nick’s kit won’t make them pros forever, and your policies may need some tuning as well. Check your coverage to make sure it’s a fit for your goals and lifestyle.

Do your covers need tuning? They aren’t going to tune themselves. Much like Paul and Nick’s bikes, leave this to the professionals. Contact us for your end of year/ new year self check!
